You can force open IHG reward availability
Being able to redeem “free” nights using points is one of the best benefits of hotel loyalty programmes. Most hotel groups abide by the Last Room Availability principle, i.e. standard rooms are always available for redemption as long as they are not fully booked.

Marriott has had a long history of running status challenge programmes. The programme devalued after merging with SPG into Marriott Bonvoy, as now you could only match to Platinum (previously Titanium equivalent).
(more…)GHA Hotels 40% off flash sale
GHA Discovery is running an August Member Exclusive Sale, which you can access here.
You need to book by 30 August, and the discount is up to 40% off. To be honest I don’t usually buy this sort of sales, as most of the time the actual saving is much less than what’s advertised, if any. That said, in GHA’s previous sales I did see some very genuine good rates.
For a September Saturday night stay at Corithia Malta St George’s Bay, the sale rate is €164.7:
Whereas the cheapest rate Trivago finds is £165:
Therefore if you do have plans to stay at a GHA hotel, make sure you check the Discovery site for any potential discount.
