Hyatt triple dining points, new hotels 500 bonus

Hyatt has kicked off a new promotion that offers triple points on hotel dining. You can access the offer here.

Now through February 20th, 2022, you will earn triple points, i.e. 15 points / $1 when you eat at the restaurants of participating Hyatt hotels. The following UK hotels are participating:

  • Great Scotland Yard
  • Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill
  • Andaz London Liverpool Street
  • Hyatt Place London City East
  • Hyatt Place West London Hayes
  • Hyatt Regency Birmingham
  • Hyatt Regency Manchester

If you are staying at the hotel, DO NOT bill to your room. You must pay at the spot and give them your World of Hyatt membership number instead, otherwise charges settled with the room bill will not earn any bonus points. The maximum bonus you can earn per transaction is 100,000, although it’s very unlike to be a problem.

Meanwhile it’s the time of the month when Hyatt updates its list for new hotel bonus. The only UK hotel on the list is Hyatt Centric Cambridge – if you stay there by the end of 2021 you will earn 500 bonus points per night.

Marriott dining benefits in Asia Pacific

Marriott has a special dining scheme in Asia Pacific, which you should know if you are a resident or plan to visit the region.

Unlike Accor Plus, you don’t need to join a separate membership plan to take advantage of it. In a way it works quite similar to Shangri-La. Before I go into any details, all of the following benefits apply even if you not a hotel guest, and this makes a big difference.

[Dining Discount]

All Marriott Bonvoy members enjoy a dining discount at participating hotels, and the actual percentage depends on the membership tier plus the country. In general:

  • Member & Silver: 10%
  • Gold: 15%
  • Platinum, Titanium & Ambassador: 20%

In Greater China the percentages are higher, at 10%, 20% and 30% respectively.

[Earn Points]

In addition to the discount you also earn points, at the regular rate of 10 points per USD.

[Redeem Points]

This is a new feature they introduced recently. Instead of paying cash and earning points, you can now redeem your points. The rate is the same as Instant Redemption, i.e. 10,000 points for $40.

The discount above can be applied in conjunction with the redemption.

The redeeming option doesn’t look very attractive, however the discount is significant (up to 30% off) and earning points on top is even better. In fact Hilton and IHG have similar programs in China / Asia Pacific, not sure why nobody has introduced them to Europe or Americas.

Extra reward stamp for Hotels.com bookings

If you are contemplating booking a hotel stay, Hotels.com has a decent flash sale which is worth considering.

It is valid for the UK site only, and full terms and conditions are available here.

  • Book by September 23
  • Stay by April 30, 2022
  • Get an extra reward stamp for any hotel booking
  • Promo code RWD1921 is needed at check-out

Since you are awarded one extra stamp no matter how long your stay is, the best scenario is for an one-night stay where you earn two rewards stamps in total, equal to a 20% rebate roughly.

New IHG promotion: triple points from the 3rd stay

IHG has just launched their Q4 promotion which, hmm, is identical to the 3X promotion they ran earlier this year.

You can sign up to the offer via this link. There is a FAQ section this time which makes everything a bit clearer.

  • Valid for stays between October 1st and December 31st
  • Double points on second paid stay
  • Triple points on third paid stay onwards
  • Total bonus points is capped at 70k

There is also an “IHG credit card 6,000 bonus points” offer mentioned in the FAQ although no detail is given. If you hold an IHG credit card watch the space.

Beware that the offer doesn’t start until October. Since triple points is only awarded from the third stay, make sure you plan your stays accordingly to avoid missing out the bonus on expensive hotel stays.

A targeted Q3 promotion is currently running until the end of September.

New Marriott promotion – earn 1,500 points per stay

Marriott has finally launched a new global promotion, although not a very tempting one.

You can sign up to the offer here.

  • Register by November 28
  • Stay between September 14 and December 12
  • Earn 1,500 bonus points per stay
  • And 3,000 bonus points in addition when staying at All Inclusive by Marriott

All Inclusive is a Marriott hotel collection in Mexico and the Caribbean, therefore irrelevant to most of us who cannot travel freely at the moment. 1,500 bonus points is quite unattractive unless for one-night stays, but still better than nothing I guess.

6K IHG bonus points for staying 4 nights (targeted)

A new IHG offer has just landed in my mailbox.

You can access the offer here.

  • Stay between August 19 and September 30
  • Stay two nights and earn 3,000 bonus points
  • Stay another two nights and earn 3,000 more bonus points

Basically you earn a total of 6,000 bonus points after completing four qualifying (paid) nights. They can be four separate one-night stays, or a stay of four consecutive nights.

I asked around and not all of my friends could sign up successfully so it appears to be targeted. It’s far from a strong offer to be honest, so let’s see if IHG can bring up something more exciting later.

Book a two-bedroom suite in Bangkok with IHG points

IHG doesn’t have a Premium Award feature that many other hotel groups offer, which means you can only book standard rooms with points. However it’s not always the case, as it’s not rare to see hotels offer award availability on all room types, whether it’s intentional or a bug I can’t tell.

Thanks to @midnight on Flyertalk, a new hotel in Bangkok is running such “promotion”. The Sindhorn Midtown Bangkok hotel is set to join IHG on August 1, although the actual brand hasn’t been revealed yet.

It’s only a four-star though so it’s not gonna be an upper-scale brand unless they have done substantial renovation, and my guess would be a Holiday Inn. The hotel is now bookable on IHG, and all room types are priced at 30,000 points:

Including the top-level two bedroom corner sky suite, which sleeps four. Due to the lack of tourists in Bangkok at the moment hotels are pretty cheap, and the suite is priced at around £200 so you are not getting insanely outsized value for your points here.

Obviously the uncertainty here is we don’t know when / if we can travel freely to Thailand and back in the near future. However award nights can always be cancelled free of charge so you may want to lock in some redemption nights if you have any plans in mind for the next year.

Radisson new program live, and 1000 points per night promotion

In case you haven’t noticed, Radisson’s split of Americas and Rest of the World has already taken place, and their new system including the award night pricing has been live.

It appears that many hotel’s award availability has suddenly gone, and I have no idea what’s going on – is it a bug from the migration, or is Radisson now stealthily blocking award nights? Anyway, just a reminder of the category movement of UK hotels:

There are more hotels moving up than moving down, but in a nutshell there’s nothing too drastic here.

And if you have planned a Radisson hotel stay this summer (including the Park Inn and Park Plaza brands), don’t forget to register for their new promotion here. Between July 1st and September 30th, you can earn 1,000 bonus points for every night stayed at any hotels worldwide.

It’s not explicitly mentioned on the offer page, but from what I understand point bookings should also be eligible. However, it does seem that only bookings made after offer registration count, so you may want to cancel and rebook to participate.
