IHG Ambassador Free Night Voucher Promotion Is Coming Back!

IHG Ambassador Program had a very interesting enrolment / renewal offer last year, where you could get a free night voucher for joining it. It appears that the same offer is coming back this year.

The following poster is shared in China’s frequent flyer forum Flyertea:

If you don’t understand Chinese 😉, here is what it says:

  • The offer runs from 15 April to 31 July
  • Everyone who joins or renew their Ambassador membership can participate
  • After the purchase, you need to stay once at an InterContinental, Kimpton or Regent hotel by 31 August
  • And you’ll receive a Free Night Voucher to redeem by 30 November

It’s not mentioned in the poster, but I suppose the voucher still has the same 40,000-point cap like the last time.

After the very recent devaluation, 40,000 points will get you into fewer nice IHG hotels now. However it’s still a decent promotion – if you intend to purchase the membership or are due the renewal, remember to hold out a little longer!

3000 Emirates Miles for One Hilton Stay in the Middle East & Africa

Since the refurbishment of its loyalty program a couple of years ago, it’s no longer possible to earn Hilton points and airline miles at the same time when staying at their hotels. However, they still run occasional promotions where you can earn bonus miles on top of the usual Hilton points.

There is now one such promotion, and you can register here.

  • Register and book by 18th May
  • Stay once by 31st August at participating hotels
  • Earn 3000 Emirates Skywards miles
  • Limit to first 1,000 registrants only

You need to select Emirates as your preferred travel partner in your Hilton profile.

All participating hotels are in the Middle East and Africa, so not many can take advantage of it. And unlike the previous Miles & More offer, you can only earn the bonus miles once.

Given the limited number of slots available, I’d recommend to sign up now if you believe there’s any chance you visit the regions this summer. Remember that you will still earn full Hilton points and night credits for the stay, so there’s nothing to lose.

Earn Double Elite Night Credit on Marriott Reward Stays!

Marriott currently has a Q1 global promotion where you earn double elite night credits and points on paid stays. If you haven’t registered yet, sign up here.

Like all previous Marriott promotions, only paid stays are eligible for the bonus. There’s a trick to work around it this time though, if you read Marriott’s FAQ page:

Does a Cash and Points Stay qualify for this promotion?

A Cash and Point reservation for multiple nights comprising of both a paid rate and points.

Example:

Providing all Promotion terms were met and your Stay was for 6 Nights (5 Booked on Points and 1 Paid Night for a total of 6 Nights). You will earn a Bonus of 6 Elite Night Credits (5 for the Redemption Nights and 1 for the Paid Night) 6 for Base + 6 Bonus =12 Net Total. You will earn Double Points on the Paid Night

As it reads, your stay qualifies for double elite night credits as long as one of the nights is paid, and the rest can be on points. This is great news for reward stays.

To book such a cash and points stay, simply tick Use Points / Certificates when you book on marriott.com:

On the booking page, click Customise Payments and pick a day (with the cheapest rate) before proceeding:

All done! The cash rate appears to be equal to the lowest flexible rate available, which isn’t too bad. And of course it combines nicely with the “Buy 4 Get 1 Free” benefit for reward stays.

Registration Open: Marriott Double Points & Night Credits Promotion

Firstly, a quick reminder that Marriott’s 2021 bonus elite nights have just landed onto our accounts:

Elite members receive certain night credits depending on the status that they have earned in 2021:

  • Silver 5
  • Gold 13
  • Platinum 25
  • Titanium 38
  • Ambassador 50

Being Titanium and the Amex co-branded credit cardholder, I’m starting the year with 53 nights already!

More importantly, Marriott’s Q1 global promotion is now open to registration, and you can sign up here.

  • Stay between 16 Feb and 27 April
  • Two-night minimum stay required
  • Earn double points and double night credits on all eligible stays

This is a very good offer, especially considering how un-generous Marriott usually is when it comes to global promotions.

On a separate note, a new influx of targeted offers has been making its round in the last week. If you haven’t checked your mailbox yet, you can visit Marriott’s Promotion Centre to see if there’s any offer awating.

The offer could be double points, stay X times earn Y bonus points etc. It’s stackable with the Q1 promotion above, however unfortunately I didn’t receive anything this time (again!)

Free Upgrade to Ascott Platinum Membership

We’ve written about the Ascott Hotel Group a few times before (for example here and here). Ascott is a serviced-apartment chain based in Singapore, with a few properties in the UK as well.

They’ve run many status match and instant upgrade promotions before, and there’s another one now. The new offer is in partnership with OCBC, a Singapore-based bank.

You could access the offer here. Create a new account or log in using your existing credentials. The upgrade should apply immediately and if not try signing out of your account and then back in.

The offer runs until the end of the 2021 but I’m not sure how long the matched status is valid for (should be at least 12 months). Platinum members’ benefit checklist is here, mainly including room upgrade, free breakfast in Europe and airport transfer in the Middle East.

Official: IHG Launching Milestone Bonus

Many of us have noticed the mysterious “milestone bonus offer” in our IHG account from as early as December 2020, and now IHG has finally made an official statement.

You can view the offer details here. Invited member can:

  • Earn 10,000 bonus points for every 10 nights stayed in 2021
  • Earn a one-time 20,000 bonus points on top when you’ve stayed 40 nights
  • Only paid nights (minimum rate of $30 per night) count
  • Excluding Army, Mr & Mrs Smith and Six Senses hotels

Unlike what Hilton or Hyatt has been doing, this offer is by invitation only, which is a shame. There’s no need to register, you’ll see the offers in your account section if you are eligible.

If the responses are good, IHG might make it public to everyone next year.

Register Now: IHG 2,000 bonus points for every 2 nights

Last but not least, IHG has joined the party by reducing elite qualification requirement by 25% for 2021 (same as last year). All your elite qualifying nights from 2020 will roll over to 2021 as well, helping you retain the status easier.

I don’t see the update reflected on my account page yet, but it shouldn’t take very long.

Moreover, a new global promotion is starting soon and you can already sign up here. You earn 2,000 bonus points for every two nights stayed between 20 January and 31 March, and even better, these are elite qualifying points too.

This is roughly equivalent to 1,000 bonus points per night, which is a good offer, and the fact that they help you qualify for higher status is great!

Accor double points & UK gift card 15%-extra sale

Just saw two promotions when I logged on to Accor’s website and might be worth sharing.

The first offer is here, although it’s unlikely to be useful. Book and stay by 10 January and you will earn double reward points on your stay.

The second offer, which is more interesting, can be accessed here. Accor is now selling e-giftcards in the UK, and to promote it you are getting double bonuses for your purchases:

  • Up to 1,500 bonus points
  • Up to £40 extra value

For the former, you need to purchase by 31 December. 500 bonus points is awarded for the £100 gift card, and 1,500 for the £250 one.

The latter is less clear – the message says you’ll get £40 extra value for the £250 gift card, however there’s no mention of the deadline or if you get anything for the £100 or other denominations.

If you purchase the £250 gift card now, you get an additional value of £40 plus 1,500 points which is worth €30, which isn’t a bad deal.

You can only use the gift card at participating Accor properties in the UK. The gift card is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and cannot be used for pre-paid spend, i.e. checkout only.
