IHG Starting Milestone Bonus Offers in 2021

If you log in to your IHG account, you may find the following two new offers under the My Offers section:

In 2021, you’ll earn 10,000 bonus points for every 10 nights stayed, and an additional bonus of 20,000 points if you stay 40 nights.

Unlike Hilton and Hyatt who’ve made status qualification very easy next year with elite nights rollover etc, IHG has decided to offer more bonus points instead. However, it heavily resembles the same offer that Hilton has had for a couple of years…

It appears that not everyone can see the offer now, but I don’t think it can be targeted and surely IHG will make an official announcement in the coming days.

All Hilton Diamonds can now gift a Gold card

We know that Hilton’s Diamond members can gift a Gold or Diamond card if they’ve stayed enough nights a year. However, as a response to the current tough situation, the benefit has now been extended to all Diamond members regardless of the number of nights they’ve achieved this year.

Now through 31st January, any Hilton Diamond can gift another person a Gold card, and if you are a Lifetime Diamond it is upgraded to Diamond instead. The gifted status is valid for 365 days once activated.

If you qualify you should have received an email containing the unique code and just share it with whoever you like. Note that it’s targeted at those who are Diamond on 1st December, so if you hit Diamond on 1st January due to the new policies you won’t be able to benefit.

It doesn’t conflict with the old gifting rule – if you’ve stayed 60 nights this year, there are two Gold cards for you to gift in total.

Hilton’s Gold is relatively easy to achieve but comes with great benefits. Hilton has been excellent in responding to the pandemic since the very beginning.

800 Free Avios for filling out a questionnaire

You probably have heard of e-Rewards – it is an enterprise-facing service that distributes online surveys. As an end user (worker?), every time you fill out a survey you’ll earn some rewards, which could be hotel / airline points or other forms of rebate depending on the affiliation you signed up with.

By 15 December, if you register as a new e-Rewards user and complete the first survey, you’ll earn 800 bonus Avios. British Airways’ offer page is here and you need to sign up via this link. Although the offer appears to be global, the sign-up link has a .co.uk domain and you may need a UK address.

I used e-Rewards for a while a few years back. You usually earn between 50 and 500 points for each survey, co-related to the length of it. It’s definitely not rewarding enough for the time spent, so don’t expect too much out of it unless you’re just killing time. It also happens quite often that you get disqualified at the beginning or even in the middle of surveys due to “wrong answers”.

That said, 800 Avios for a few minutes on their website doesn’t sound a bad deal at all. e-Rewards has similar deals with other loyalty schemes too, so you may want to dig around a little bit if Avios is of no use to you.

Listed on BA’s offer page is another piece regarding Rocketmiles – new members get 5,000 bonus Avios after completing the first booking with them. We’ve actually written about it back in June, and now that our chances of travelling are getting slightly better you may want to re-consider using it, and your earning preference doesn’t have to be Avios. Should you want to participate, feel free to use my referral link (or enter code PKUKAYCHOU during sign-up) for 1,000 additional points after your first booking.

Free points daily via Accor’s Advent Calendar

Accor has a tradition of having an online advent calendar promotion every year, and this year is no exception. You can access the offer here.

Note that all information in French, and the competition is meant for French residents in selected countries only. However, I had no issue participating despite my address being in UK, and other people on Flyertalk have reported similar results.

Simply enter you membership number (without space) and email address and then you are good to go. There’s only one question to answer and even a hint next to it! My question was “How can you accrue Accor points” which was super easy.

Unfortunately I only won an extra entry to the final competition (3-night stay voucher for two at any Accor hotel in France). Many people managed to win 250 points (€5) straightaway.

Besides nearly six millions points to give away, other prizes include free night vouchers (brand specific), bags and cabin luggage etc.

Double Accor points for Europe stays

Accor has launched a good rewards offer for hotel stays if you intend to travel in the next month.

You can sign up to the offer here.

  • Book by 8 January
  • Stay by 10 January
  • Your stay(s) will earn double reward points

Note that you must register before making the booking, and the stay must be in one of the following countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Republic Of Macedonia, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Accor is terrible in writing terms & conditions, and in following them. In the t&c it sounds like the offer may only be valid only once, however I won’t be surprised if it’s valid every time instead.

[Black Friday] 50% extra on IHG Bonus Points Package

In addition to its hotel sale, IHG is also giving Bonus Points Package bookings a boost this Black Friday.

You can see its mention on the BF promo page here, and details about Bonus Points Package here. If you book any package by the end of this year, and stay by 31st March 2021, you’ll earn 50% extra on the package. For example if you book a 5000-points package, you’ll earn 7500 bonus points for the booking in total.

And IHG has made it crystal clear on the promo pages – these points count toward status. With this promotion it may be fairly easy for you to hit Spire next year, although it doesn’t have many solid benefits unless your stays are mostly in Asia.

Marriott offering free photo books?!

Just received an email from Marriott, with A Thank You Gift in the title. I thought it’s a targeted offer (finally!) and got very excited for a second, but after I clicked through…

It’s a campaign from a company called Shutterfly. You are provided with an offer code that entitles you to a complimentary 20-page photo book when signing up as a new member. I didn’t proceed, but I’m not convinced it’s really “free” either, as I guess you’ll need to pay at least the postage in the end.

Speaking of targeted promotions, I received one from Marriott in February 2019, which was the first and, thus far the last too… I’ve seen different variants that people have received in the last couple of months:

  • Stay twice earn 22,500 points
  • Stay three times earn 9,000 points
  • Stay three times earn 18,000 points
  • Stay once (including weekend) earn 18,000 points
  • Double points on weekend stays
  • Double points on two-night stays
  • Stay twice earn two free night awards

You can check if you’re targeted by any of them by visiting the Promotion Centre. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to have them manually added to your account.

10,000 bonus points for booking Hilton’s day room

Hilton is the pioneer in opening day-use bookings – their system has long supported booking day rooms directly. As the competition in this market is heated, Hilton has revamped this idea and come up with something new.

The new scheme around day rooms is called WorkSpaces, and you can access its page here. The idea is nothing new – you have a room from 9am to 5pm, earn points and stay credits, and elite benefits such as room upgrade / lounge access also apply.

Until the end of March 2021, you’ll be awarded 10,000 bonus points for the first day-use booking completed during the promotion period. Note that only hotels in the UK, USA and Canada are participating.

Here are some cheap London hotels:

  • Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo £48
  • Hart Shoreditch Hotel London £56
  • Hilton London Hyde Park £52
  • Hilton London Olympia £40
  • Hampton by Hilton London Ealing £42

And I expect hotels in other regions to offer even lower rates.

To book, simply visit Hilton’s website and select the same check-in and check-out date. Note that some hotels call the rate simply “Day Use” and others “Workspaces – Day Use”. To be safe I’d recommend to book the latter.

Promotions such as the current double-up should also apply. In theory you won’t get night credit though, but it depends how the hotel logs your stay.

According to the terms – “you must have received this offer directly from Hilton Honors”. It might be a targeted offer, but I’ll book a stay anyway and see how it goes.
