Week of Wonders – exclusive Marriott offers in Asia Pacific

In a bid to revive its business, Marriott has been running exclusive monthly offers (Member Day) in China since May. Looks like it has been extended to Asia Pacific (at least for this month), so has potentially become more interesting.

You can access the Week of Wonders offer page here. The promotion period is October 8 to October 15, and there are three region-wide offers available:

  • October 8: unrevealed (it’s a quiz competition in China)
  • October 11: win a free hotel stay
  • October 14: win $200 hotel dining gift card

Moreover, there is a sweepstake where the winner can nominate one name to display on a Manchester United match’s digital boards. It doesn’t seem to be limited to Asia Pacific only, so all Marriott members can participate.

There are also country-specific offers on the Exclusive Offers page. Offers range from dining discount, extra bonus points to special package rates.

1,500 free Marriott points for linking your Emirates account

Marriott is known to have reciprocal programmes with airlines, if you have both accounts linked, being elite member with one of them entitles you to some benefits when flying or staying with the other.

I have never participated in any of these programmes, and just received a nice offer by email.

By enrolling in the Your World Rewards programme, which is the Emirates version, I get 1,500 Marriott points straightaway.

The link to enrol is here.

It’s very unlikely that I’ll fly Emirates anytime soon, however I wouldn’t say no to 1,500 points in just a few clicks. The t&c however, suggests that only recipients of the email are eligible, so it could be a targeted offer.

IHG new double points promotion

IHG has launches its new global promotion, which is a bit boring.

The promotion’s page is here and you can register via this link.

  • Valid for stays between 1 October and 15 December
  • You earn double points on each stay
  • Chase IHG credit card holders earn 10,000 bonus points after first (paid) stay

Compared to the previous round, where you could earn up to quadruple points, this new promotion is not very exciting. Personally I think it’s not as good as the ones from Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt either.

Unfortunately IHG seems to have forgotten about its affiliated credit cards outside North America – I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just offer the bonus to all IHG credit card members?

Hotels.com app-booking bonus stamp offer

Hotels.com is running a new offer to encourage customers to book through the app. Details of the offer can be found here.

To participate, remember that it works on the app only.

  • Book by 22/09
  • Stay by 31/03/2021
  • Enter code APPRWD1 at checkout and collect one extra stamp per stay

Like all such promotions, you must choose the Pay Now option to be able to apply the code, even if the reservation is refundable. Also note that the bonus is per stay, so it works best on one-night stays; in theory if you have a longer stay you can probably split it into multiple bookings.

I don’t value Hotels.com rewards much, as it usually represents a delayed, under 10% return (or with this promotion, 20%) only, which is nothing exceptional at all. However, I do appreciate their elite benefits, especially the hassle free guarantee which means you could cancel non-refundable bookings for free if plans change. And with this promotion, you can potentially reach Silver with only five nights, which isn’t bad.

Marriott 2,500 bonus points per stay promotion, and a potential trick

Marriott has finally revealed a new global promotion for bonus points, which you can register here.

Join or renew IHG Ambassador membership for a free night voucher

I personally value the IHG Ambassador programme highly, and have written an introduction to it. It appears that a great offer is coming your way, if you are due to buying or renewing your membership.

The offer is not live yet, so there isn’t any official page at this point. But you can already see all details in the Ambassador programme’s terms and conditions.

In a few words, if you join and renew the membership during the offer period, you will be awarded a free night voucher after one qualifying stay! And more details:

  • Offer period: 30/07/2020 – 15/11/2020
  • You need to stay once by 31/01/2021
  • The stay must be paid, and at one of the following three brands: InterContinental, Regent and Kimpton
  • The voucher is valid till 30/04/2021
  • You will still get the weekend night certificate (BOGOF voucher)

The voucher entities you to an award night stay, up to the value of 40,000 points. There doesn’t seem to be any brand restriction, however I’d assume most people would want to use it on top hotels. After the introduction of dynamic pricing, many of Kimpton, InterContinental or even Regent hotels in Europe can be had for this price.

You don’t need to sign up to this offer, just purchase or renew your membership as usual. However, one can only renew the membership within 60 days of the expiry – my membership expires September next year after two extensions, so unfortunately I have no chance to participate.
