Hilton targeted offers – up to 4,000 bonus points
Hilton initiated a new wave of targeted offers, and there are two versions that are being circulated.
I received an email of the first offer the other day. I couldn’t register at that time though due to “technical difficulties”, but it seems to have been fixed. I couldn’t register to the other offer.
Register now: Marriott free night promotion
Marriott has a tradition of releasing targeted offers. However, one of the very good offers has just been made public, presumably by mistake.
You can sign up to the offer here. If you see an error page, open it in incognito mode and then sign in instead.
You should be able to see the registered offer afterwards in your promotion central.
Stay twice (paid) by August 31 and earn a free night award, capped at 35,000 points. It is a popular and the best targeted offer that has been circulating around. Act fact and register now before the error is fixed!
Buy (very cheap) IHG points through stay add-ons
If you are an IHG frequent, the name Bonus Points Package is probably no stranger to you. Basically you can buy additional points as an add-on to your stay, and these points are elite-qualifying. In addition to earning more points, they could also help you achieve higher status sooner.
There are two limitations though:
- They are only available on (member-discount) best flexible rate, with or without breakfast
- Prices ain’t typically attractive
That said, there are occasional offers which makes it a much better deal. To find out, go to the hotel’s rate plans page, and select a best flexible rate. You should see a pop-up like this:
The image above shows an pretty solid deal – you pay only $11 for 5,000 points, which usually sell for $25 under their half-price sales. If you cancel the reservation within the permitted window you won’t be charged.
It’s hard to find great deals though. Thanks to my friend @zaozaoba, here are a list of select hotels that offer the best bonus points packages.
- Japan Holiday Inn Express Osaka City Centre – $18
- Thailand Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong – $10
- Thailand InterContinental Bangkok – $7
- Thailand InterContinental Hua Hin Resort – $7
- India Holiday Inn New Delhi Mayur Vihar Noida – $10
- Australia Holiday Inn Express Brisbane Central – $13
- Australia Holiday Inn Sydney Darling Harbour – $13
- Australia InterContinental Sydney Double Bay – $12
- New Zealand voco Auckland City Centre – $1 (3,000 points)
- New Zealand Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown – $14
- UAE voco Dubai – $11
- Qatar voco Doha West Bay Suites – $9
- South Africa Holiday Inn Express Cape Town City Centre – $3
- South Africa voco Johannesburg Rosebank – $6
- Canada Holiday Inn: Ottawa Dwtn Parliament Hill – $18
- Mexico Hotel Indigo Guanajuato – $7
- Brazil Holiday Inn Sao Paulo Parque Anhembi – $7
Unless otherwise states, the $ prices are for 5,000 points.
The list above is by no means exhaustive, and you can play with IHG’s website to dig more. As you can see, you could pay as low as $1 to buy 3,000 points – very impressive!
You can only buy maximum 5,000 points per night though so it’s not a quick or substantial way of buying points. However, if you have travel plans and don’t mind paying the best flexible rate, it may be worth checking out the bonus points package.
IHG Q2 offer preview: 10K points every four nights
(Update: the offer is live now)
IHG’s Q2 offer has been leaked:
- Register from May 24
- Stay between June 6 and August 31
- Choose from two offers:
- 2,000 bonus points every two nights
- 10,000 bonus points every four nights
It is identical to what IHG offered end of last year. Note that the sign-up page for this offer isn’t live yet.
Marriott Homes & Villas 40K points offer
Marriott’s bnb brand Homes & Villas has launched a flash sale which awards a huge stash of bonus points. You can read more about the offer here, but basically:
- Book between May 1 and May 3
- Stay by September 9
- Earn 40,000 bonus points for every stay of four nights and more
- Properties must be listed in USD, GBP or EUR
The currency restriction was added just hours after the offer launch. It’s funny when Marriott realised they had tons of property in Asia that cost $20 a night…
The bonus points is displayed on the booking page. Note that there might be other fees including cleaning fee and deposit (refundable). The cheapest property I can find in the UK is £240 for four nights (Bolton):
Turkey and Bulgaria are cheaper:
40,000 Marriott points are worth about £240, so it can be a very good return. If you didn’t bag enough night credits in Q1, you may consider this offer to sprint towards Platinum or Titanium status.
Note that Marriott Bonvoy benefits are very limited at Homes & Villas. You accrue night credits as usual but only 5 points per dollar, and there are some welcome points for Gold members and above.
I Prefer new website launch and 2,500 points promotion
I Prefer, the loyalty program of Preferred Hotels, has launched a new website and app. To give them some credit, the website is a great leap forward compared against the old one.
You can view your account activity, as well as book reward nights on the portal.
However, not all Preferred Hotels are bookable with points. In fact many are still missing, and it seems that I Prefer hasn’t made much progress in the last couple of years.
The celebrate the new website and app, I Prefer has also started a new promotion. All stays booked by April 30 and completed in 2023 will earn 2,500 bonus points.
Hilton Q2 offer: up to 4,000 bonus points per stay
Hilton’s new global promotion is open to registration, which allows you to earn up to 4,000 bonus points per eligible stay.
You can sign up to the offer here.
- Stay between May 1 and September 5
- Earn 4,000 bonus points per stay at Hilton resort hotels
- Earn 2,000 bonus points per stay at other hotels
Note that the bonus points are posted per stay, not per night. The full list of resort hotels can be found here – the majority of the resorts appear to be in Asia and United States, and the only UK one I can spot is the Doubletree in Glasgow.
For a one-night stay at a resort hotel, 4,000 points is decent return. Otherwise the bonus is a bit underwhelming. Considering that travel restrictions are almost totally gone and summer is coming up, it’s unsurprising that we don’t see great hotel promotions.
IHG Q2 offer: 3k points for two nights
IHG has sent a new round of targeted emails, which revealed the next bonus point promotion.
You can sign up to the offer here.
- Stay between April 15 and June 5
- Earn 3,000 bonus points when staying two paid nights
- You can earn the bonus three times
Note that only paid stays count, and in theory the nightly rate needs to exceed $30. It is a targeted offer so you may not be able to register, and there is unlikely going to be any global promotion until June 5.
