The actual discount depends on your travel date.

TAP Portugal
London – Boston in business class for ~£1000 return, and the cost can be further reduced if you add a stopover (>24 hours) in Lisbon to avoid the UK APD. Example:
Use Google Flights and Skyscanner to find cheap date combinations. Book by November 28th.
Virgin Atlantic
- Book by November 27th
- Travel by September 30th
- Pay 30% fewer points for all reward flights
This is an incredible deal for flying to/from Shanghai:
Redemptions for US destinations are unfortunately bundled with outrageous fees, so they might not be a great deal even with the 30% discount.
Melia
- Book by November 26th
- Stay by December 20th, 2024 (hotel dependant)
- Save up to 50%
Remember to stack the Gold 20% off and App 5% off. The discount is genuine although not necessarily at 50% at most properties, and many of the rates are flexible.

Kimpton Hotels
The following UK Kimpton hotels are offering 20% discount of gift vouchers:
- Kimpton London Fitzroy

Malmaison / Hotel Du Vin
Malmaison – rate starts at £100, including £50 dinner credit
Hotel Du Vin – rate starts at £145 for two nights, including £50 dinner credit
£100 flight / hotel discount with Trip.com
We wrote about Trip.com’s constant flight discount recently, and they’ve just revealed their Black Friday promotions which are worth a look.
The landing page is here. Note that the specs here are for the UK market, but similar promotions run for France, Germany and Spain as well.
Flight discount:
- Nov 24, 5pm – £50 off £200
- Nov 24, 8pm – £20 off £30 on flights to Spain, excluding budget airlines
- Nov 25, 12pm – £100 off £500
- Nov 25, 8pm – £30 off £40 on flights to Turkey
- Nov 26, 12pm – £15 off 100
- Nov 26, 8pm – £100 off £150 on flights to Thailand
Supply will be limited and they will probably go fast. The flight must depart from the UK, but besides that there are very few restrictions. Keep your alarm clock on if you have flight tickets to buy!
Hotel discount:
- Nov 24, 6pm – £50 off £150
- Nov 25, 6pm – £100 off £250
- Nov 26, 6pm – £20 off £100
Unlike the flight offer there’s no geographical restriction on the hotels, although they can only be applied to “selected hotels”.
IHG Cyber Monday: free 500 points and 48% off Iberostar
IHG’s Cyber Monday deal is out. The 20%-off sale is, to put it mildly, a lacklustre, but there are fortunately a couple of worthwhile offers.
[App Bonus]
There’s an easy 500 bonus points to win. All you need to do is register, (re-)download the app and sign in. The terms have no mention of first-time app users, which would otherwise disqualify most people. I am able to register to the offer successfully. (Edit: terms do suggest first-time app download only…)
[Iberostar Sale]
IHG’s Cyber sale only takes 20% off the best flexible rate, and it’s non-refundable, which is laughable. Iberostar on the other hand is much more interesting:
- Book by November 28th
- Stay by October 31st in the Americas, or December 20th in other regions
- Maximum discount of 40%
- 8% additional discount if logging in with your IHG account
So you can get up to about 48% discount, almost half price at Iberostar hotels, which is a great deal. Even better, after applying the discount the best flexible rate is still flexible as you can see from the image above. There are also half-board and all-inclusive options.
[Points & Cash]
The Points & Cash offer is also back: book the Points & Cash rate at any IHG hotel for stays between Jan 1st and February 29th and save 15% off the cash component.
It could, indirectly, be a great way to buy cheap IHG points, sometimes under 0.5c per point. There are some deals this round but seems to have all sold out already, but I’ll report back if find anything new.
Act fast: Mr & Mrs Smith $65 voucher still works
Last month we wrote about a crazy offer that Mr & Mrs Smith was having. Unfortunately the two-night minimum stay requirement was added swiftly which made the offer much less appealing, but there are still good deals out there:
After applying the $65 voucher you pay only $30 for two nights at this hotel in Kuala Lumpur, which is really cheap even by Malaysia’s standard.
As a couple of our readers have pointed out however, there’s still a hack you could do to apply the voucher on one-night reservations.
- Book any hotel for two nights, go to the checkout page and add the voucher code e.g. BIRTHDAYUS, and then go back
- Book the one-night hotel stay you want, at the basket page remove the two-night reservation. You’ll notice that the coupon is there and discounted price is displayed
It’s not mission complete yet, as if you proceed to payment you’ll most likely see the following error:
What you need to do is: head back to the basket, go to the checkout page, keep your fingers crossed and try again. If you are lucky the payment will go through this time, and a confirmation like this will follow:
I’ve no idea why the second-time lucky is, or if you may need to try more or if it has anything to do with the payment method. But it works for me and some other readers.
Note that they’ve also added a geographical restriction on the coupon code, and BIRTHDAYUS only works on accounts based in the Americas now. Don’t forget about the limits: you can only use the code three times and no consecutive bookings are allowed, and your reservations would face cancellations otherwise – the hack here of course, is also against the two-night requirement in the terms, so I can’t guarantee that they would be honoured.
Hurry: €61 off all Mr & Mrs Smith hotel bookings
Mr & Mrs Smith, the hotel group that was recently acquired by Hyatt, is running an insane promotion to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
You can view the birthday offer here:
- Book by November 27th, stay anytime
- Limited to 3 uses per person, and reservations cannot be consecutive
- Promo codes:
- BIRTHDAYEU – 50 EUR off
- BIRTHDAYUS – 65 USD off
- BIRTHDAYAU – 100 AUD off
- BIRTHDAYSG – 80 SGD off
Most importantly there’s no minimum spend requirement. The codes are interchangeable so you should use the USD one for all bookings, as it’s equivalent to €61.57 off.
Be mindful the usage restrictions, as otherwise your bookings may be manually cancelled later.
(EDIT: minutes after my post they added a two-night minimum stay requirement, and removed some of the cheapest properties!)
With the discount, a one-night stay is almost free at certain hotels! Dusseldorf, Germany:
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
Given how ludicrous the offer is I’m highly doubtful that it’s gonna last till November 27th. Lock in your reservation now before it’s too late!
Great deal: complimentary 3rd night with Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and The Hotel Collection
If you hold an Amex Platinum or Gold card, there are some pretty good hotel deals to be had with their exclusive preferred programs.
You can refer to the promotion page here, which lists the hotels that currently offer a special deal. In my opinion the best sweet spot is Complimentary 3rd Night, as it gives you 33% discount on the best flexible rate in addition to the benefits.
Fine Hotels & Resorts – for Platinum cardholders, benefits include free breakfast, $100 credit, room upgrade early check-in and late check-out.
- InterContinental Osaka
- Conrad Seoul

- The Langham Melbourne
- Corinthia London
- Conrad Dublin

- The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo

The lists above are not exhaustive. Although the promotion page is from Amex UK, the offer should be global – I checked with my U.S. card account and could see the same discounts.
